To be honest, I don't really know how to start this entry. It has been stressed upon us in this sport that the fast transitions are something that we don't spend much time on in training and it's one part (acctually two segments of one race) where we can pick up so called "free time". Well, as with all things in life nothing is really free. If you go to the store and get your self a great deal of "buy one get one free" you still have overpayed that first one at least 4-5 times, but our minds still recognize it as a bonus, however here, in this particular example we have a problem with this concept. Oh, sorry, most of you still don't know what I am talking about there. My sincere appologies! But rather than talk a thousand words please look at this picture and than I shall continue. : Ok, now you got that? This picutre is from one of my frineds, a Pro triathlete from Slovakia, Martin Hubacek. I want to thank him for this picture and letting me use it here, I really appreciate it. But let's come back to our topic.: What we have here is a one of the greatest displayes of not only being THE FASTEST wherever we can be during the triathlon race but also a display of proper believes and "game on" attitude. For most of us, it's the psychological barrier we have to cross before we can pull the stunts like these at the race. Don't take me wrong, sure you have to be a good enough athlete to do this, but you are already doing a triathlon, you are a good athlete! At this point it is simple - we have to realize that everything we have learned in life was mostly through the trial and error. When it comes to this, it's no different. We must let go of our fear and move forward. Take a buddy or just your bike (it's my buddy anyways and doesn't even talk back), find a smooth road next to the grassy fiels without a curb between them and start trying. Try once every day per week and you will see that the fear vanished and it will become as slick as zip tie your shoes on the fly after your come back to the transition again. Have fun my friends, and if you need motivation just print out the picture and take it with you. Martin, thanks again, hope to see you here next year to rip it open!!!
